Set up and host college visits virtually, in person or on campus.

Provide college consultations with students and sometimes parents.

Assist with the college selection process, the different application process such as the common app, early action, early decision, regular decision and help students market themselves to make them an attractive selection for the college admissions office.

Provide Standardized SAT/ACT test prep materials and assistance for students.
Provide waivers for students who can’t pay for tests and help students with test sign up.

Provide essay writing support.

Provide deadlines and dates for scholarships applications and fees.

Provide support for students filling out college FAFSA and scholarship applications.

Assist students with filling out NCAA Eligibility forms, consult and collaborate with the high school athletic coaches in our building.

Match students with community partners: jobs, internships, job shadowing, and volunteer experiences.

Provide students with resume and interview prep assistance.

Host district and school events such as College Night, Career Fairs and gap year planning events.

Work with the school counselors to make sure the classes the students are taking line up with college admissions expectations.

Communicate routinely with college admissions representatives and pass on information to counseling staff, students and parents.

Work with the BSU, the Rising scholars and other groups to close the achievement gap, increase college acceptances to 4-year universities and increase post-secondary options. Provide intervention strategies for students as early as 9th grade to help them plan for college.
